Single-Photon IR Detectors
We build single photon detectors in the IR range selectable from 1.3 µm to 3 µm. The detectors are based on up-conversion detection which is a two-step process. First, the wavelength of the detected IR photons are shifted, or up-converted, to the visible region through nonlinear interactions. Second, the up-converted light is detected with a standard Si- Single Photon Avalanche Detector (SPAD).
Benefits of our detectors:
- Easy to use
- Operates at room temperature
- Low timing jitter (< 50 ps)
- Low dead-time (< 90 ns)
Figure: The detector has a timing jitter of 43 ps. Figure shows counts (blue circles) sampled with 4 ps bins and a Gaussian fit (red line).
